This historic and comfortable B&B is centrally located in the popular market town of Hertford. The house which many would describe as 'quirky' dates back to the 17th Century and is in fact a combination of three houses. There are many original features, beams and open fireplaces and guests are welcome to relax in the lounge and to browse through our eclectic book collection. Guests need to be aware of the different levels in the house i.e. low doors and stairs, and also the close proximity of the house to the town. The Thornton family are only the third family to have lived here and you are guaranteed a warm welcome.
We are located on Castle Street which is a short walk from the bars, restaurants, boutiques and shops of Hertford. We have an excellent view of the Castle and grounds which are perfect for a stroll. We are also close to the Cole Green Way and the Meads and canal walk to Ware. For further information about the History of the Castle itself please visit Hertford Town Council's site here.
Hertford has two train stations taking you directly into either Moorgate or Liverpool St. Buses run frequently, and the larger towns of Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield and Stevenage are no more than 20 minutes drive away. Stanstead Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by car. Visiting London is easy and the surrounding countryside is perfect for walking.
